| Mercedes E-class wagon Prices for the new Mercedes-Benz E-class station wagon will begin at 44,804 euros in Germany when the car goes on sale starting in November. The fifth-generation wagon will be the third new E-class model variant, following the recent launch of the sedan and coupe. With a load capacity of up to 1,950 liters and a length of 4895mm, Merecedes says the E class is the largest wagon in the premium segment, bigger than its main rivals, the BMW 5-series Touring and Audi A6 Avant. The wagon will feature technical innovations introduced in the latest E-class sedan, including drowsiness detection and automatic emergency braking when an accident is recognized as imminent. Measures such as engine downsizing, improved aerodynamics, weight reduction and reduced resistance have boosted fuel economy in the latest E-class wagon. The most fuel-efficient variant, the E 250 CDI, burns 5.7 liters of diesel per 100km and has CO2 emissions of 150 grams per kilometer. The most-expensive variant, the E 500, will start at 70,150 euros. Cheaper variants costing about 42,000 euros and 42,700 euros will be available starting in the first quarter of 2010. |
